IT is a small sticker sticker found inside electronic gadgets such as cell phones and laptops. The sticker changes colour when it comes into contact with moisture. It is also called a Liquid Contact Indicator or LCI. Service centre personnel examine it to determine if the defective phone has been damaged by the user.
A water damage sticker is round or oblong in shape and white in colour. It is placed on battery or inside the battery compartment or at several points. It contains a die which reacts with moisture and turns the sticker red or black.
Cell phones are generally water damaged when they are dropped accidentally in water, or a drink is spilled o them. The phone can be dried out completely but the sticker will still indicate the presence of moisture making the warranty void.
The sticker can be activated even with slight exposure to moisture.
Water can damage your battery just as quickly as it can damage your phone. It's important for you to remove the battery, battery door or back cover, and any other removable components (such as headphones, SIM card, and case) so that the phone can get as much air as possible.
