Last Man on the Moon

Who was the last Man on the Moon ?
Though he is best known as the last man to set foot on the Moon, American Astronaut Eugene Cernan who died on January 16 at the age of 82 was also third human being to do a spacewalk. In 1966, Cernan spent more than 2 hours on a spacewalk outside the Gemini 9 capsule, a mission that almost ended in tragedy. The technology and tools for working in microgravity were not yet fully developed by NASA and since so few had actually done spacewalks till then, Cernan was unprepared for the tough exercise which involved operating in a vacuum wearing a bulky spacesuit.
Cernan was completely soaked in sweat. He was bone- tired because of dehydration and his visor had fogged up. He had to abort the mission and fumble his way back to the airlocks, almost blinded by perspiration. Though he survived , it was frightning experience.
NASA learned from the near disaster. The agency overhauled Astronaut training program and redesigned the space suits with new cooling system. Cernan himself went back to space piloting The Apollo 10 in May 1969 in a dry run for the upcoming lunar landing. He went within 50,000 feet of the Moon's surface.
In December 1972, Cernan got his chance as commander of Apollo 17, the trip to the moon. He and his crew climbed lunar mountains and collected new data. Before he got back to his craft, Cernan traced his daughter Tracy's initials(T.D.C.) in the dust.
Not very much people know about Eugene Cernan as everyone only remembers the first one, and I bet very few of the people remember about the second Man to step on Moon, as everyone wants, that 1st position. But we should think that they also had done the same level task and achievements, they had played their role as crucially as other have. Every crew member on the space missions has there for a specific task to maintain the equilibrium of their mission.
